The Vogel Gryff is one of Basel’s most cherished traditions and a true cultural gem. Every year on 13 January, the Vogel Gryff, the Wild Man and the Lion parade through Kleinbasel in a festive procession. Representing courage, community and the city’s historic guilds, this living tradition is deeply rooted in Basel’s identity and widely recognised beyond the region.
